The Bristol and District Cat Club show got off to a good start with fine dry weather in stark contrast to some previous years when temperatures were close to freezing! Overall the show went well. We had a total of 452 cats, a little up on last year, of which 20 were Non-Pedigree entries. Unfortunately a couple of our judges were unable to come but last minute replacements were found. The weather was good, not too cold, and the additional heating kept the hall lovely and warm. All of the vets turned up which meant very short queues for exhibitors.
The visit by the TV crew worked out well and Sian Phillips seemed to be popular amongst visitors. She presented the prizes to the Best in Show Non-Pedigree winner. We also received sponsorship from the TV company which allowed us to offset some of the cost of additional rosettes for Imperial Grand classes and for the Best of Variety winners.
We had one rather dramatic incident during the day when an overhead pipe burst and water poured all over the till at Pursonnel Touch. Fortunately the damage was only minor.
